In what looks like it is going to be a big year for metal fans, some of the most anticipated albums may be landing in 2016. Rumors are speculating that Metallica, Tool, and Korn may be releasing their new albums this year along with some other metal giants like Megadeath, The Deftones, Anthrax, and more…Will we see an end to some of these long droughts from Metallica and Tool…I sure hope so, being that those are two of my favorite bands. Really looking forward to Korn as well.
With that being said, this April would be 10 years since Tool’s last album 10,000 days. A lawsuit had set them back, but the rumors of new songs written are spreading fast. I would love to also see them release a live concert performance on DVD or Download, since their catalog is very limited and I’m dying to see them in performance mode. I did catch them live at Masison Square Garden in October of 2001, a month after 9/11. They were absolutely amazing!
Almost as long as Tool but not quite, is Metallica coming in at 7 years. This September would make that 8 years since the release of Death Magnetic. I can’t believe it’s been that long, but the EP Beyond Magnetic kept their music going strong. Great tunes that could have easily replaced tunes on Death Magnetic. Wonder how they made some of those decisions as to wich songs to keep? Speaking of songs, Metallica keeps posting videos of them at the studio, one in which you hear a glimpse of what sounds like a new song being played. Rumors aside, I think we are going to hear some news soon about a release date. What do you think?
Unlike Metallica or Tool, Korn continues to put out new albums regularly. If their new album drops this year, this would be their 4th album since 2010. That’s great in today’s standards. So as of the latest Korn news, The band is claiming that the new album is going to be heavier than The Paradigm Shift and is said to be BRUTAL. Look like this album will be out before the others.
